S is for...Surroundings

This is a big one. You’ve got to find a way to deal with this. Because if you want to achieve anything you’ve got to come to terms with and learn to cope with your surroundings.

Life...that’s big. There’s a lot of shit going on there. How big? big it doesn’t really bare thinking about.

I remember being a teenager looking at the night sky and saying, what is all of this about?! Hahahahaha!

Critical thinking that was the issue. Ask anyone who doesn’t know how to keep calm a question that tests them and see how they react.

Anyway, been for a haircut today. Don’t I look so fetching?!

So, I’m staying at my brothers in Twickenham. Had to find a barbers. Jumped on google. Found a barbers. Twickenham Barbers and Hairdressers. Awesome name. But genuinely really good and really nice. Twickenham prices. Not so nice for little old Exeter dwelling me. But yeah, sorted.

Got a sausage roll on the way home from Gregg’s.

Got back to my brother’s. Made a coffee on his fancy DeLonghi coffee maker. Went to get some milk. Got some milk. Went to find a spoon to stir it. Where is the spoon then?! Fucked if I know.

He’s got a new kitchen fitted. Which is partly why I’m up here. Not to look at his kitchen. To have a bit of a gathering in the house in this newly renovated space that is pretty awesome for having a party. But more importantly. Where the fuck is a spoon so I can stir my coffee? I looked everywhere. Maybe 2 or 3 times. Because I’m sad. But determined. But maybe not that determined. I couldn’t find one. So I just swirl the cup around a bit in my hand. That’ll have to do. Fuck the spoon. I’m sat here in his living in room right now writing this. I have literally no idea where the spoons live. But you know, new surroundings. Got to find a way to survive somehow. Fuck it! I don’t need this spoon! If anything, if anything the spoon needs me more than I need it!

In terms of performance and performing well. Surroundings are arguably the hardest thing to cope with. Because they are as big or as small as you are people acknowledge they are.

I went on my Football Level 1 coaching course last year. We spoke about coaching cliches. “Play what is in front of you.”, was one that came up. And yeah, it is a cliche. But it’s a fucking good cliche. Like a really good one. Effectively, live in the moment. Engage in the surroundings you are in. Not fucking just social media and the cyber world. The people that are right in front of you. The city or town that is right in front of you. If you don’t like it, help to change it, create some solidarity OR move.

He’s got up. There is a secret fucking drawer under his cooker. Unless you are being absolutely hawk eye I don’t think you oi are spotting that. Whatever.

Who doesn’t love a good quote?
