S is for... Soup
Soup is so good for you. Can...soup, can be so good for you. A can of soup is good for you. Can, a can of soup, can be good for you. Ignore that, couldn't help myself. Canny, can can can.
Just as I’ve started to write this, a few things have sprung to mind. One thing in particular that has made me smile.
“They’re like soup...they’re like nothing bad...let me tell you that much.”
That is a lyric from a Mother Love Bone song called, Holy Roller.
The other things that sprung to mind were:
Soup is also an album by an awesome band of yesteryear called Blind Melon.
The Soup Nazi - it’s an episode Seinfeld. In college I had to write an analysis on a sitcom episode. I spoke to my one brother about it, and he suggested I write it about this episode. It is a class episode.
Back quickly to Mother Love Bone. This is the band that members of Pearl Jam were in before Pearl Jam. I love Pearl Jam, I’ve been lucky enough to see them a few times. But I love Mother Love Bone. The tragic thing about the Bone is that their singer Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose before they hit the big time. Andrew Wood, is one of my biggest heroes. I can’t say I know a huge amount about Mother Love Bone, but I know I love their music, their sound, their songs and their lyrics.
One reason I love MLB is because Andrew described their music as Love Rock. Which to me is surely exactly what you should be aiming for when it comes to writing music. It’s either love or hate, right?. It’s either Rock or...whatever the opposite of that is? Er, not Rock? Er, being boring as fuck? Love Rock!
In terms of soup though. Yeah mate, I do love it. You can make it out of all sorts of yummy stuff. It’s quick meal to pound down when you need something quick.
I like tomato.
I like oxtail.
I like chicken and mushroom.
I like spicy sweet potato.
I just like soup, man.
As long as it's edible, I'll eat it.
Who doesn’t love a good quote?
Obviously gonna repeat it
“They’re like soup...they’re like nothing bad...let me tell you that much.” - Andrew Wood
