S is for...Smells Like Teen Spirit
So, I wrote a little linguistic, cognitive, psychological exercise a few days ago - whatever you want to call it. It’s a really simple one. Then I posted it on Instagram and I promoted it; because I wanted to share it with people and I want them to use it if they think it’s of benefit to them.
It’s certainly of benefit to me, so I figure why not share it? I use it to help manage my stress, and I use it when it comes to coaching.
The post reached a 1000 likes within a couple of days. Which, I guess, is cool? I’ve no idea really. On the grand scheme of what gets likes on Instagram, 1000 likes is pretty low numbers. But still, it reached that. 1000 people are enjoying or getting some sort of benefit from what I shared.
Now if you don’t know, you can set a target audience of who you aim your content at. I focused on predominantly English speaking countries because my blog and the exercise is in English.
Here you go.
When I had a bit of a closer look, A LOT of the people that liked the post are...teenagers. How do I know? Because I looked at their profiles because I want to see who is engaging with it.
What does this mean? Well the way I see it, much like when I was a teenager, it would appear that some teenagers are still struggling and getting stressed out.
Does it surprise me? NO, why? Because growing up is complicated man. Learning is confusing, tough and complex.
Do I feel better about myself? Fuck yeah I do! Why? Because I feel like I’m giving people something that they can use to help deal with stress.
There is no, hard and fast way to live life. They is no one size fits all. That is if you have that attitude, of course.
However, I know, we all need and want 'something'.
So, as far as I’m concerned - that is where it starts...with something.
What was the exercise? ‘Look for S is for... Stressed? and read that.
It’s basically showing you a simple way of how to synchronise and successfully steer yourself within a stressful situation. I figure if you can do it on this scale and in this situation; the exercise You can do it in others.
